In case I haven’t made it obvious by now, I’m only slightly in love with Jacqueline E. Smith, author of the gripping ghost-whisperer tale, Cemetery Tours. I admired her creepy yet totally fun world so much that I immediately went out a bought the sequel, Between Worlds (up there on my TBR!). Plus, I got to meet her, and she has such a warm, amazing personality that I decided to stalk her on every social media possible – to include her funny and candid blog, A Platform of Sorts (which you should go follow – she’s a delight).
Anyhow, on with the show!
Hi! My name is Jackie. I’ve written three books, Cemetery Tours, Between Worlds, and Boy Band, and one short story, “The Water’s Edge,” which will be published in an anthology called Lurking in the Deep!
Briefly introduce your current endeavor.
Oh, oops. I think I just did! My newest book, a young adult novel called Boy Band, will be available next Tuesday, April 21! Lurking in the Deep will be available May 7. After that, it’s a few local signings and writing more books!
Wow, so busy! What inspired this novel?
Dozens of youtube videos inspired Boy Band. I love music, and ever since the 90s, boy bands have been one of my favorite things ever.
I think we all remember – or at least understand – that! :P When/where is it available?
It will be available on Nook and Kindle, Amazon.com, and BarnesAndNoble.com. Possibly iBooks as well if I can figure out how to get it up.
When did you make the decision to independently publish?
2013 when I wrote my first novel, Cemetery Tours.
What was the process like for you?
At first, it was incredibly intimidating and overwhelming. I didn’t know anything about the publishing process. I didn’t even know where to begin. But I had so many wonderful people help guide me and walk me through the steps. I try to pay that forward whenever I meet a new aspiring author.
I definitely understand that. Any plans to continue independently publishing?
Woohoo! What are you currently working on?
The third installment of the Cemetery Tours series as well as formulating ideas for the Boy Band sequel! That and about a million other ideas constantly buzzing around in my head.
Where can you be stalked (links)?
Any parting thoughts?
If you have dreams of writing, don’t let anyone or anything discourage you or tell you you can’t. Go for it! You never know where it might take you or who you might meet. Plus the world could always use more books.
Amen to that.
