In the vein of Jackie and Nafiza, I present thee a rundown of the year as narrated by my Instagram photos. It’s actually a brilliant idea I wish I’d had organically because it reminded me, in such a succinct (and often cute) way that my year did not, in fact, suck as much as I keep sayin’ it did. So, here goes, Sierra: 2014.
I visited in-laws in Georgia (and did some editing while I was there).
And celebrated my first few days back from deployment and vacation.
I got a haircut, which is vital to remember because it is December now and I’ve only just gotten my second of the year…
I visited some friends back home in Houston after graduating from Warrior Leader Course and publishing my debut novel, The Soul: Book One.
I went to the field.
Ran a 5k in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Got a new tattoo – writers, like teeth, are divided into incisors and grinders.
As well as a new kitty named Io.
I started drawing again after years of not drawing (not well, mind you).
Ran a 5k in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Got another new kitty named Hyperion.
I ran my last 5k (before health issues interfered) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Began to half-sleeve my Lion King tattoo.
Did more doodling/drawing.
Dyed my hair for the first time ever.
I began to actively #SupportIndieAuthors.
Had two chalazions (AKA devil cysts) removed from my eyelids.
Adopted the most precious little boy ever, a Pit Bull named Master.
FINALLY MADE POINTS!!!
I started painting again.
And finally got promoted which led to…
Craziness like writing counselings while in full MOPP gear.
I finished a phenomenal series.
Doodled angels at midnight.
Joined in on BookTube and book hauls.
I wore my favorite shirt to my first anime convention in years.
Finally got to stop at a Bucee’s on one of my many roadtrips, also the first time in years.
As well as participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time stateside… which meant I was also able to see my family for Thanksgiving for the first time since joining the Army.
I participated in (at least half) the December #photoaday challege.
Rebuilt my bookshelf and participated in my first-ever readathon.
Received 1,000 likes on the blog.
And finally started 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami (I’ve owned it since like 2011!).
Like I said, glad I gave my IG a gander. It reminded me how not-so-shitty 2014 actually was. Here’s to 2015 – and hopefully more Instagram photos; seems like I fell off for a little bit there.
Please add me on Instagram – it’s on private, but I will accept your request. :]
